Abstract: The reactions of the base material, during the welding process, consist in chemical composition, volume, structure and granulation changes. There are multiple problems which can occur by welding two steels with totally different chemical composition, i.e. carbon steel S235JR + AR and austenitic stainless X2CrNiMo17-12-2. The process used for making the heterogeneous joint was flux cored arc welding (FCAW), numerically coded 136. The paper presents the effects of welding through heat input, on the structural characterization of welded seam and heat affected zone. It also focuses on the structural characterization of the welded joint obtained using the flux cored wire T 23 12 L P C/M 1, and determining how the base materials participate at the formation of the welding joint.

Abstract: Nanosize Mg2+, Zn2+, Sr2+, and Na+ mono- and di-substituted calcium hydroxyapatites were synthesized using an aqueous precipitation route under controlled conditions. The chemical composition and the micro-structural features of the polycrystalline samples were characterized by chemical analysis, thermal analysis (TG/DTA) combined with MS for evolved gas analysis, FTIR and XRD spectroscopy as well as SEM. The correlations between chemical composition and the crystal morphology were elucidated.

Abstract: Brake judder is a phenomenon of noise which its vibration can be felt physically by the driver of a vehicle. If this vibration is exposed to the driver for a long period it can lead to tiredness during driving. There are two types of judder which is cold judder and hot judder. This paper will be focusing on the hot judder. As a disc surface heats up during braking it causes both sides of the disc distort and hence produce a sinusoidal waviness around its edges. In this paper finite element analysis of hot judder is performed using a commercial software package, ABAQUS. An existing brake disc design is simulated and will be used as a baseline model. Various structural modifications made on the disc are proposed in an attempt to reduce brake judder in a disc brake assembly.
