Abstract: Process modelling is the concise description of the total variation in one quantity, y, by partitioning it into a deterministic component given by a mathematical function of one or more other quantities, x1, x2... plus a random component that follows a particular probability distribution. The models are material or immaterial systems, which represent other systems, so that it may be possible to manipulate the built structures and their states. The main elements of a simulation are: attributes (describe and differentiate entities), variables (system characteristics), resources (whose capacity can be variable), tails (seen in case of unavailability of resources) and statistical accumulators (measure needed indicators). The new cluster model used in the present paper is a "Five for all" type, which is based on the American concept of "Smart community". Following the regional SWOT analysis, we choose an enterprise (SME), a member of the regional innovation cluster, whose activities will be modelled using the Arena software: distribution and processing of steel products (sheet, profile, pipe, concrete, steel, stainless steel, alloy with special purpose). Welded pipe production, cutting heavy plate with gas and plasma, cutting and slitting foil, shaping and reinforcing steel in coils bars, components from. Trade in petroleum products and fertilizers. Foreign trade and transport. Modelling and simulation of industrial activities profile are based on statistics regarding the lifecycle of various products and equipment involved in their manufacture.

Abstract: With responsibility as its central element, sustainable development is a concept that calls for permanently increasing information usage while minimising material and energy consumption. Waste – particularly of energy – cannot last, and is evidently not a long-term solution. In the field of machine-tools structures deemed sustainable fulfil their functions for a sufficiently long period of time, while consuming as small as possible amounts of energy and including a small as possible volume of material. In a machine-tool, as in numerous other industrial products, energy consumption in deployment significantly exceeds that of their manufacturing. A conclusive example is that of mechanical presses, machine-tools with long service lives and considerable deployment energy consumption. With increasing stiffness of presses, deployment energy consumption is smaller. Detailed research conducted by the authors has yielded a series of innovative constructive solutions for mechanical press cast C-frames – frames with ribbed lateral walls, frames with pre-stressed front columns and shortened frames – with increased stiffness and minimum additional metal consumption as their main relevant characteristics. The finite element based study of these novel constructive solutions has revealed stiffness increases of 1 to 12 %, significantly depending on the type of constructive solution. The novel solutions can be combined in view of cumulating the obtained positive effects. The paper presents relevant examples of such combined constructive solutions and the results related to stiffness increase obtained by means of the conducted FEA study.

Abstract: Currently it is a critical situation when every year due to aggressive external factors thousands of listed buildings are under threat of destruction around the world. In many ways, the state of affairs is due to the lack of effective integrated management of listed buildings. Lack of integrated tool for operating of different data, which determines the structural integrity of listed buildings and condition of environment, has led to the fact that most of the regional and municipal authorities are not able to handle the diversity of information. To address these problems specialist of Department of City Planning and Community Development of Rostov State University of Civil Engineering developed the methodology and information-analytical support system of listed buildings’ preservation. This support is able to analyze different types of data and to use different IT technologies such as CAD systems, GIS-technologies and databases. Information technologies in management of listed buildings can help municipalities with a limited budget to get the most out of existing services as these are the technologies that help different departments to work more closely with each other.

Abstract: Brownfields are one of the most important problems, which today’s cities have to solve. Regeneration of them and their reintegration back to the city organism are very time-consuming and expensive. New development is realized on the edges of cities for this reason. However, this situation is not in accordance with sustainable development principles, but the situation is not only about finances and brownfield regeneration can have very positive effect on many other aspects. Software tool Modified dynamic model (MDM) facilitates to model the long-term development on the defined factors basis. Thus, it can be convenient to model the land development in the case of brownfield regeneration in this software and to compare this situation with greenfield development. On the basis of results, we can find that brownfield regeneration is more effective in the long run. Then, these models can help potential investors with decision about their finances investment.

Abstract: In various sectors in Poland, aims of sustainable development are being implemented more or less successfully. It is necessary to apply the principles of sustainable development to the human behaviour and activity of business entities, because there are more and more activities particularly harmful to the natural environment. The implemented modern technologies aimed at the elimination of (or eliminating) the negative impact of human and business activities on the natural environment, are bringing the desired results as far as the protection of individual natural resources is concerned. Inability to define the economic value of the natural resources results in their constant, excessive exploitation and degradation. However, the growing awareness of the environmental issue in Poland is resulting in the application of technologies that protect individual natural resources. The paper attempts to determine the measures of sustainable development of construction sector in the scope of economic and environmental order, and to classify all of the economic sectors in Poland in accordance with the achieved level sustainability. For this purpose one has used the numerical taxonomy methods, and in particular the methods of linear ordering of objects (that involve projection of the objects from a multidimensional space of features onto a straight line), called the methods of multidimensional comparative analysis. The measures were designed based on available statistical data from 2012. The purpose of this article is comparison the construction sector to each other and to find out which sectors are similar to each other in terms of sustainability level, and to find sectors that have managed to achieve the best results in this regard.
