Abstract: System engineering methods are often used to design complex systems like airplanes. However, this method is also useful to propose solutions to redesign logistics systems such as warehouses and transport systems. This paper will apply system engineering in analyzing the late order problem at a pesticide company, thereby surveying stakeholders needs for warehouse re-designing. The functional analysis in the warehouse will be carried out in the concept analysis section to propose warehouse’s layout redesign alternatives that based on the demand of storage capacity and throughput. The authors also used the AHP method to select the final design layout. The detailed design section builds the operation process for the warehouse as well as the codification for commodity storage slots along with these tables forms that support for warehouse management. These solutions increase warehouse performance as well as the utilization in warehouses when applied in practice. Therefore, the system engineering method should be used in warehouse’s redesign

Abstract: Engineering Science (ES) is bridge between basic science and engineering applications. It’s an important academic guidance for conceptual design selection of a large, complicated engineering project. Traditional plan selection depends largely on qualitative information and is subject to subjective factors. Using System Engineering (SE) methodology combined qualitative and quantitative information, this paper applies theory of ES to plan selection and decision making process Analysis on objectives, quantitative modeling and expert knowledge of complicated engineering project is conducted, in order to support a more objective, science-based decision making during conceptual design phase.

Abstract: With the rapid development of economic globalization, communication between government and civil has become more frequent. Language is an effective tool to promote international communication. Language learning has become more important, so it stimulates the progress of language training market. However the training industry still exist many problems, such as the market operation is not standardized, and the training services quality is low. And it is very important to develop standards to normative. Furthermore the standard system is the foundation for developing standards. Applying the theory of systems engineering and unified modeling language (UML), the paper established language training services standard system by extracting vocabulary, initial class diagram and grouping the classes, based on the analysis of interdependent body.

Abstract: Computer aided techniques widely used as diagnostic and surgical procedures tools are scarcely applied in implantology, which continues using visualization of CT images to define the parameters for dental implant process leaving to the dentist discretion the implant determination, since only the images analysis is non-deterministic. Thus, this research proposes the development of a knowledge-link model integrated to a reasoner system to support dental implant process through information modeling. The system presents an interface that interacts with the user and consists of reasoning mechanisms connected by knowledge-links to a base of knowledge that enables information translation, conversion and sharing. The results obtained using the model showed that it is a valuable tool in the decisions making made by the surgeon in the dental implant planning process as it will be based on concrete and measurable data generated by the system through the analysis of the patient’s tomographic images and implants data.

Abstract: The monitoring of dissolved combustible gases in power transformer oil could enable early detection of disastrous fault. The conventional dissolved gases in oil monitoring activities have these characteristic: 1) periodically sampling and 2) manual interpretation of combustible gases. However, periodical sampling increases number of undetected fault due to long sampling interval and manual interpretation of dissolved gas is often too complex for system operator to digest, resulting in reduced reliability of the power system and lack of situational awareness. To enhance the condition based monitoring activities for power transformer; TNB Research is embarking on online monitoring and knowledge-based system research project to address both issues related to periodical sampling method. This paper outlines the conceptual framework of the research project which was recently approved. It includes (1) the system architecture of the online monitoring system, (2) brief explanation of the mechanism of photo-acoustic spectroscopy, (3) the engineering system situational awareness framework which integrates different levels of automation and (4) blocks of knowledge sources theory used in modeling the engineering system.

Abstract: This paper begins with the design theories and principles of the long-distance education system. By analyzing the features of the ubiquitous learning and the modes of the long-distance education, the paper designs a communication procedure optimized long-distance education system. It detailed describes the system construction which integrates the optimal communication routines and long-distance education into a whole system. The procedure needs to gradually extend each component in the system in order to adapt the continuous developing techniques and changing learning ideology.

Abstract: City management has been brought significant challenges by urban population increasing, for example, urban transport, environment, water resource, residents medical treatment and so on. Take full advantage of information technologies, manage city operation in an integrated and systematic mode, to coordinate the various functions of city, provide quality service and unlimited innovation space for enterprises, higher quality of life for residents. Based on interconnect, collaborative and wisdom, the smart city is a new thinking path for exploring future urbanization and a new concept for promoting post-modern city construction. From the perspective of system engineering, comprehensively analyzed system architecture of smart city, soft environment construction, city construction dimensional model, evaluation indexes, causal analysis diagram and evaluation flow chart to provide a reference thinking path for the smart city construction and development. At the same time, the future research direction of the project were given, they were how to mine big data from smart city operation, construct organization and operation mechanisms of smart city.

Abstract: Supply chain under partial cross ownership (PCO) refers to the dyad in which each one holds part of its partners shares. In a two-echelon push supply chain under the partial cross ownership, when the operational decisions are bargained, the supply chain is coordinated, and the allocation of the chain profit is dependent on the bargain coefficients and the reserve profits, and independent of the PCO structure: letting the retailer hold part of the suppliers shares doesnt affect the chain efficiency and both players profits. Similarly, letting the supplier hold part of the retailers shares doesnt affect the chain efficiency and both players profits.

Abstract: The rapid development of technology, industry, and civilization and the improper land production in the urban artificial ecosphere have led to severe environmental pollution and resource exhaustion. Reviewing the highly ordered and highly dynamic urban use operation mechanism is necessary for improving urban sustainable development. We used several methods based on urban ecology and sustainability of urban development theory, considered urban use as a system, and analyzed the urban land use system in terms of operation principle and the mechanism of society, economy, and environmental systems through system thinking. We also studied the causal feedback relationships of the urban land use system with system variables and divided it into five subsystems, namely, urban population, land use, industry economy, transportation, environmental ecology. We then constructed a feedback flow graph of the index and the circular operation of the common drive system to characterize effectively the state of urban land.

Abstract: Based on data from European and American wind-turbine Industry experience in decades, about 30% efficiency and profits of wind-turbine system are dominated on the fan blades, especially a large number of Modern Composites weaving techniques are already enhanced into manufactured process in composite blades. In this article, we design and experience a 3D measurement as well as scanning system with System Engineering skills in limit time and cost from NSC (only one year), Using this home-made system, we can get the performance of turbine blades very easily and save a lots of time compare with before. In here, we not only show the system engineering skill processes in how to finish the platform but also find the key parameters of wind turbine blade from home-made platform to get the optimal performance finally.
