Abstract: Material selection is one of the vital and critical steps in the mechanical design process. In recent times, various tools based on the multi-criteria decision-making process are used successfully to cope with such complexity in material selection. .This work provides appropriate methods and tools to find the optimum thermoplastic polymer reinforced natural fiber composites. The material selection applied using a decision-making model that consists of the „Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution“ (TOPSIS) and „Vlsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje“ (VIKOR) methods in order to rank of the materials according to applied criteria. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was performed in order to determine the weighting of the material properties or criteria. Rank the materials were gained by using ranking scores as results of the methods use. The results offer that the best polymers were found to be the LDPE and Nylon 6,6. It was proved that the multi-criteria decision-making model is an application for solving complex material choice decision problems. This model can be applied to other engineering applications with any number of alternatives and criteria for material selection.

Abstract: High entropy alloys (HEA’s) have found a very special place in aerospace industries due to their property of forming solid solution. In past literatures on high entropy alloys, it is established that parameters like atomic size difference (), topological parameter (Ω) and electro-negativity difference (∆) plays a vital role in deciding whether solid solution will be formed or not. Therefore, the present study deals with the selection of optimal high entropy composition based on the three parameters δ, Ω and with the help of TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution). Ranking is done for 38 HEA different compositions such that the first rank represents the HEA which is most likely to form solid solution. The study reveals that TOPSIS method can be successfully implemented to predict the formation of solid solution in HEA’s.

Abstract: We employ an integrated model to decide the location of the most optimum harbor infrastructure of tourism in determining the tourism attractiveness for destinations. This study identifies the factors that influence the tourists’ choice for destination and evaluates the tourists’ preference for destinations. A 4-level AHP model, consisting of 22 attributes on the 4th level, developed by Tzu-Kuang Hsu, was proposed and tested using data collected from tourists who visited Bali to establish the relative importance of pre-selected factors (criteria). By using fuzzy set theory and TOPSIS, the preference of 47 given destinations corresponding to each criterion can be evaluated and their final rankings can also be defined. Based on the results of this preference, ten alternative port locations were evaluated using Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) models to find the travel package tours with a minimum duration that can be visited with a long period of time. The TSP model implemented in this study is expected to be able to integrate tourist destinations and transportation systems. The results of computation using the TSP model revealed that Benoa Harbor is the best place to dock for cruise ships based on the number and rank of the tourist preference for destinations that can be visited.

Abstract: With the construction of smart grid and smart substation, influences of the main electrical connection on the reliability of the entire power gird have become more and more important. Therefore, coordinated development between power grid and substation is a key to the design and optimization of main electrical connection. In this paper, the entire equipment in power grid including the main electrical connection is simulated simultaneously, and then the index of power gird with the main electrical connection optimization by disconnecting circuit breaker is calculated. Optimization schemes are sorted by the method of TOPSIS, realizing the evaluation of main electrical connection based on coordinated development between power grid and substation.

Abstract: On the basis of the establishment of evaluation index system, an improved entropy weight – grey correlation – TOPSIS model is put forward to select project supply chain vendor, and process the related data. The each index weight is obtained from subjective weighting method and objective entropy method. The positive and negative distance between each evaluation object and ideal solution is calculated, and the grey correlation grade between each evaluation object and ideal solution is obtained. Then the relative closeness of each evaluation object can be gained that we can select the best vendor according to it.

Abstract: Environmental issues have been receiving an increasing amount of attention. However, evaluating sustainable products is a challenging task. A comprehensive approach to evaluate sustainable products based on life cycle assessment strategy is proposed in this study. The evaluation procedure is based on the combination of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) method. A sample evaluation for disposable coffee cups is provided to illustrate the comprehensive evaluation of sustainable products.

Abstract: With the aim to improve the controlling efficiency of engineering project, this essay probes into the comprehensive evaluation of controlling efficiency of engineering project and put forward scientific comprehensive evaluation method to provide support to reasonable comprehensive evaluation of controlling efficiency of engineering project. Complete comprehensive evaluation index system of controlling efficiency of engineering project is constructed from three aspects, i.e. implementation efficiency of construction objective, external coordination efficiency and professional qualification enhancement efficiency; based on matter-element analytical method, mathematic model that could evaluate controlling efficiency of engineering project comprehensively is constructed.

Abstract: According to the diversity in the nodes of cloud storage, this paper puts forward a replication layout strategy based on TOPSIS. We can apply it in the replication layout strategy in order to make full use of its advantages in multi-objective decision-making. The replication layout strategy, based on TOPSIS, uses HDFS’s racks awareness function; it makes the comprehensive evaluation of multiple attributes of multiple nodes, and by calculating the “distance” from each node to the optimal solution and the worst solution, it can choose the deployment of nodes to realize the efficiency of replication layout.

Abstract: Aimed at combination weighting in multiple attribute decision making, a new approach for combining different weighting vectors is proposed. The proposed approach considers the randomicity of weights themselves and the consistency among weighting vectors, constructs a constrained weighted relative entropy model. Aimed at the disadvantage in the TOPSIS based on Euclidean distance, the TOPSIS based on Mahalanobis distance is adopted to solve the coefficients of optimal weight vector. Finally, an example is conducted and the results show the proposed approach is effective and is more reasonable than three other combination approaches.
