Abstract: Customer Churn is a pesky problem that continues to haunt telecommunication companies. Social influence analysis has recently been introduced in churn prediction, motivated by the fact thatsome users can churn due to accumulated churn influence that they’ve received from other churners. We’ve collected call data records of about 10 thousands mobile phone users of one the largest mobile network operators in China, and have built a Multi-relational call network which is a graph constructed by mobile phone users considered as nodes and the interactive calls between them considered as the relationships or edges. We’veapplied Linear Threshold (LT) to model the diffusion of churners influence in theobtainedsocial network, in order to analyze the relevance of social affinities in the diffusion of churn influence. The results indicate that churn influence diffusion depends not only on the number of initial churners but also on the existingaffinities between users.

Abstract: This article presents an analysis of the main reference models of Product Development Process (PDP) and specificities of the telecommunications industry. The research instruments used to collect the data was semi-structured interviews, direct observation and document analysis in two companies, in order to map and analyze their PDP. It was noticed that there was similarity of the steps of the Case Studies PDP with the reference models, especially the model of [4]. The main differences were the feasibility analysis, the assessment by the customer of the preliminary product concepts, and the emphasis on commercial and operational development. It was also noted that the PDP of the companies had no strong influence of practices and business processes. Their PDP were more involved in the strategy area, infrastructure and with the product of eTOM framework.

Abstract: The Telecommunications Industry has a highly competitive and constant technological innovation scenario. Therefore, its Product Development Process (PDP) must have adequate structure and agility. In this context, this article presents a structure of the PDP to providers of telecommunications services. This proposal was based on literature review and in two case studies in Brazil.

Abstract: The performance improvement on SIP-based VoIP server is given in this paper. The signaling server “SIP Proxy Server” and media streaming server “Media Relay Server” are applied. Firstly, the performance of VoIP server is analyzed and evaluated in detail. Then the effective method is applied to improve the performance of VoIP server. In the analysis results of SIP Proxy Server, the CPU time for the registration and call-setup sessions need 3.241 ms and 7.985 ms respectively. Moreover, in the Media Relay Server system, when the packet size from 1 to 32 bytes, the maximum throughput of packet is about 82,000 and 16,000 per second for UDP and TCP respectively. The large the packet, the less throughput is tenable. There are three methods applied to improve the performance. The capacity by 31 times is achieved. The capacity with 3,524 calls for each Media Relay Server is achieved. The improved method proposed in this paper is reasonable.

Abstract: In this research, the top six determinants of evaluation, as shown in Table 2, were selected as objectives of developing the digital convergence policy of Taiwan, they are: (1)C11 Promoting telecommunication mobile value-added services; (2) C12expediting the digitization of cable and terrestrial TV; (3) C21promoting investment and development of the convergence industry; (4) C13adjusting the scope of regulating telecommunications and broadcasting ; (5) C31completing the digital convergence legislative framework and passing relevant legislation; and (6) C22 reducing the digital divide and popularizing services.”For this research, opinions and comments from experts and scholars were compiled with the objective of establishing the most effective research structure and means of evaluation. Subsequently, results show that the top criteria expedite Taiwan’s digital convergence is the development of high-speed broadband network infrastructure. Besides, Taiwan presently does not perform well in Harmonic Convergence Regulatory Environment. It also means that there is not a sound regulatory environment, particularly in “balance digital divide and universal service”. Thus, Taiwan should first improve “Harmonic Convergence Regulatory Environment”.

Abstract: Telecommunications access price is the focus of interests and conflicts of all parties involved in interconnection, which involves the distribution of economic benefits. It is necessary to introduce government regulation to promote the smooth development of interconnection in order to guarantee interests of all parties. This text discusses the issue based on evolutionary game theory.
