Abstract: Nowadays, air coolers are extremely utilized at industrial and vital fields. Based on this significance, the paper exhibited the general concept of thermal and mechanical design of an air cooler heat exchanger model via COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS and Exchanger Design Rating (EDR) to obtain the most optimal thermal and operation conditions for boosting the heat exchanger efficiency. This was reached from the advantage of the integration between simulation software COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS and EDR have been used to enhance the operating and mechanical factors of the air cooler heat exchanger. The preference for using COMSOL and EDR are related to several factors, most notably the type of application to be simulated and detail level available for simulation. A simulation model of the air cooler was developed in EDR software and provided noteworthy results. Specifically, one of the marked outcomes is an increase of the overall heat transfer coefficient of 253.9 W/m2.K in case 1 and 279.5 W/m2.K in case 2 when compared to the baseline scenario of the as-built air cooler. The mechanical improvement proposed from the results of case 2 showed that it is possible to reduce the number of fans used by reducing the air flow rate by about 26%. At the same time, it provides the same thermal acting by cooling natural gas from 51°C to 37°C. Thus, reducing the amount of energy consumed by 61%, this is interested from an economic view point. A simulation of sample air cooler was carried out in COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS. With respect toward the results, a suitable design for the heat sink was reached, which provides acceptable thermal performance.

Abstract: In the article research results are presented, the aim of which is to provide high quality and reliability while using heat-protective structures for machines and people. Textile materials perform important function contacting moisture in the atmosphere. Results of moist environment textile structure and properties research are also presented here. It was established that multilayer structure with free elementary cells, including knitwear, for the purposes of barrier maintenance of moisture level is not sufficient. Based on the performed experimental research, new characteristics and properties pattern defining behavior of materials while contacting liquids (wetting, capillarity, moisture, hygroscopy) are established. Recommendations relating to groups and samples of textile materials are given. The research was made in Don State Technical University within the framework of State Assignment of the Ministry of education and science of Russia under the project 11.9194.2017/BCh.

Abstract: Clay brick as building material has been used for thousands of years. Nowadays, the energy performance of new products has to meet rigorous requirements, therefore in design of fired clay blocks, building physical calculations and optimization are essential. The aim of this research is to design optimized fired clay building blocks using numerical finite element thermal simulations supported by laboratory tests. The paper analyses 38 cm or 44 cm thick hollow building blocks occurring nowadays in the industry, taking into account of single blocks as well as tongue and groove connections. The study compares blocks having different internal structures: rhomboid, triangular and small or big rectangular gaps. It also deals with the effect of different fillings: air, expanded perlite, mineral wool, polyurethane (PUR) foam and aerogel. During the research, 20 different masonry elements were analysed using the above-listed varying parameters and the equivalent thermal conductivities were compared.

Abstract: The vehicular LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) tank is a key component in the land transportation of-163°C LNG. The cryo-insulation performance of vehicular tank directly affects the security of LNG transport greatly. Based on a 40m3 vehicular LNG tank, a structural design of the vehicular LNG tank is completed, which includes its body,nozzles,heat-insulating layer,sealing devices,saddles and so on. With the safety requirements of less than 2% LNG evaporation rate, the leakage heat of LNG tank is analyzed completely. Then, a heat-insulating layer outside of LNG tank is completed with thermal design. Finally, with thermal software, the effectiveness of heat-insulating layer is proved.

Abstract: Metallic thermal protection system (MTPS) is a key component in space vehicle design. By introducing thermal contact resistance (TCR) on the interface between different layers of MTPS, an one dimensional (1D) thermal conduction model for MTPS with multiple functions is established for thermal design. An optimization method is proposed to determine the thermal parameter by comparing the results of 1D finite differential simulation with the test ones. The thermal mode is analyzed by three dimensional FEM analysis and the results show that the mechanical characteristics of MTPS appear to be asymmetric which provides a new consideration to insulate the fluctuating load.

Abstract: In the long run, the problem of high temperature has been existed in a companys injection molding machine controller. In order to solve the heat dissipation problem, two kinds of heat pipe heat dissipation schemes are designed, CFD software ICEPAK is used in the report to make a numerical simulation as well as a simulation analysis of the Heat pipe cooling scheme. By comparing two kinds of cooling mode heat pipe cooling effect and structure process, Vertical-type heat pipe cooling solution that meets the cooling requirements and makes heat-sensitive components stay away from high-temperature, furthermore heat pipe processing technology is relatively simple.

Abstract: There was a thermal model established for the packaged power IC chip which is usually used in the design of a class amplifier. After the theoretical analysis of the equivalent chip thermal resistance model carried out on the basis of thermal resistance theory, the optimization and calculation of the baseboard's material and thickness were simulated with Icepak. The acceptable thermal structure of was showed as suggestions for the reliability of chip with discussions of the simulation.

It solves the problem of high temperature of the injection molding machine controller, furthermore it provided the foundation for the company to improve product.
