Abstract: Life and ROP of PDC bits are improved greatly when rotational impact drill assemblies (TorkBuster) are used in hard rock formations. The transient drilling processes of PDC bits combined with and without TorkBuster are simulated based on ANSYS software when drilling in densify sandstone formations. Simulated results are compared. It’s found that the torsion angle of the drill pipe is lessened greatly when torsional impact is loaded with same bit pressure and torque as that without torsional impact. Torsional impact reduces accumulated energy stored in the drill pipe, relieves stick-slip vibration and improves working conditions of PDC bits greatly.

Abstract: The stainless steels is more and more applications to the medical field, the most is the austenitic stainless steel. In this paper, 00Cr18Ni14Mo3 mechanical properties of austenitic stainless steel screw, compared to the solution of the former and the sample microstructure after solution treatment, energy spectrum and the torque angle reverse faults, compared to solution treatment found that mechanical properties of the samples after meet the standard can be applied to practice

Abstract: The basic investigation was conducted for the diameter enlarging machine of a shaft by repeating cyclic torsion newly developed as a novel idea. With a concept repeating the alternate cyclic stress on a shaft subjected to axial-compressive force, the plastic working method to cause diameter enlarging deformation on a part of shaft was proposed. In this investigation, the diameter enlarging experiment and the model analysis by FEM with notice of the deformation behaviors on diameter enlarging process were conducted as axial-compressive stress σc and torsion angle θ for mild steel pipes of SGD400. About 300cycles of cyclic torsion was repeated the cyclic torsion angle θ=3°as a standard process condition to a shaft subjected to axial-compressive stress of σC/σy0 =1.0. In this condition, the shaft has enlarged to about 1.3 times of initial diameter (D/D0=1.3). The experimental value was in excellent agreement with the analysis value. Also, not only diameter enlarging deformation behaviors but also influence of machining conditions on the behaviors was clarified.

Abstract: Using semi-empirical quantum mechanic (AM1, ZINDO/S) and ab-initio Hartree-Fock (HF) calculations we investigated selected structural, electronic and vibrational properties of phenylene-based oligomers from biphenyl P2P to para-sexiphenil P6P. Special attention is paid to the interplay of electrostatic and conjugation effects on torsion barrier, energy gap, charge distribution and selected vibrational modes, and their dependence on torsion angle and oligomer size.

Abstract: We propose a new beating machine based on a dual cam and lever mechanism to operate flapping and torsion motions of a dragonfly wing. The beating machine was designed according to the time dependent variation in flapping angle and in torsion angle of a free flight dragonfly. Our experiment results show that the variations in flapping angle and in torsion angle of a wing on beating machine agree well with those of a real free flight dragonfly wing, confirming that our beating machine is available for studying the beating performance. We then use the beating machine to study the aerodynamic force and inertia affecting on the wing by comparing the flapping angle and torsion angle under the normal and vacuum conditions.
