Abstract: In Indonesia, motorcycle traffic accidents have increased rapidly. Traffic accidents result in high mortality. One of the causes is influenced by human psychological factors or human error. However, to improve the behavior of the riders and due reducing traffic accidents, the purpose of this research is developed a Smart Helmet that can detect drowsiness by measuring the heartbeats psychological riders. Besides that, this system equipped with an SOS button. Its function is to detect and help the riders if there were any emergency incidents on the roads. This proposed system designed using a heartbeat pulse sensor, GPS module, GSM module, Arduino Nano, push-button, and buzzer. Smart Helmet examined in several scenarios to test the performance of the drowsiness and the SOS button. The resulting test on 10 respondents defined that the drowsiness can be detected and give a buzzer alert when the heartbeat is below 60 bpm. The information can be seen without delay. The incident location can be tracked down by utilizing the google maps application. The shift position as the error distance of the GPS incident location only happens in the range of 21.96-42.63 meters. The conclusion is the helmet can detect drowsiness based on heartrate and give an alarm. The SOS button is functionally properly as long as the helmet is used in the outdoor area.

Abstract: This paper aimed to research the relationship between the wrap around distance (WAD) to head contact and vehicle impact speed based on real pedestrian traffic accidents with video. A team was established to collect passenger car-pedestrian accident cases occurring between July 2011 and July 2015 in Chongqing, China. A total of 15 pedestrian crashes were selected into the sample. Impact speeds were calculated by a video analysis technology, and the WAD was revised according to the average height of pedestrians involved in the sample. The relationship between the WAD and impact speed was analyzed using linear regression analysis. We propose a method to evaluate the impact speed in passenger car-pedestrian. These results will contribute to the development of judicial identification and research of pedestrian injury.

Abstract: Karangasem region is the lowest income region in Bali Province-Indonesia. The people are highly dependent on using motorcycle for their daily movement. Karangasem has a high fatality rate of traffic accidents. There are 190 cases of the traffic accident and causing the death of 140 people. The number of accidents involving motorcycles are 172 cases. The objective of this study is to investigate factors that influence fatal traffic accidents involving motorcycles. This study used traffic accident data over 6 years period from 2007-2012 and applied logistic regression. It was found that there are four variable significantly affect accident fatality at 95% confidence level, i.e. accident location, collision type, violation type, and age.

Abstract: Road safety outcome is a complex issue involving high number of risk factors and indicators that contributes to road accidents and their severity related to human-vehicle–road interactions. This requires a multi-dimensional model in order to fully understand the road safety situation especially among commercial bus drivers. This study identified some of the risk factors with the objective of establishing the relationship between them through a model for assessing the road safety outcome. The model was developed using data collected from 465 commercial bus drivers in Johor, Malaysia. The estimated model yielded significant relationship between the risk factors (Drivers, Vehicle and Road) and road safety outcomes. The statistical analysis of these risk factors shows that the model has significant fit to the data. The results therefore, yielded a road safety output guideline formula suitable for road safety performance indicator for safety practitioners and stakeholders. The study pointed out three critical risk factors (e.g. Drivers, Vehicle and Road) with their various levels of risk contributions as influence on road safety among commercial bus. Six recommendations based on this finding were made in an attempt to reduce commercial bus accidents.

Abstract: The severity of accidents can show the dangerous of intersections directly, however, the safety of intersections which have not accident data could not be evaluated easily. This paper introduced “Intersection Dangerous Parameter (IDP)” model to quantify intersections’ safety. Because IDP is calculated based on Intersection Conflict Dangerous Parameter (ICDP) and Intersection Accident Dangerous Parameter (IADP), IDP model can help to evaluate the safety of intersections which have not accident data. Rely on Chinese and American data, IDP model is calibrated and the safeties of three type intersections are evaluated using this method.

Abstract: This paper developed a GIS-based traffic management and analysis platform designed to enable accident analysis process is fast, convenient and intuitive analysis and comprehensive; while black spots investigation aspect, there is provided a certain basis for the conclusion of the investigation for the black spots, governance provide supplementary information. Based on the above analysis, combined with the actual situation, the system uses the scan of thematic maps, vector maps as baseline. Based on this development system, mainly the following functions: map management functions, basic map operation, information inquiry, the accident entry, statistical function, black spot investigation model.

Abstract: In analyzing the factors of traffic accident, the most important reasons are the influence of people, vehicles, roads, and the environment for traffic accident. Learning how to handle traffic accident normatively and identify the traffic accident correctly, is the important lesson need to be solved urgently. however, the current safety performance technical expertise work for accidental vehicles lack of according with relevant laws and regulations, scientific, adaptable, and workable identification norms. To solve this problem stated previously, this paper studies the technical identification standard of accident vehicles, which mainly introduces the effect, basis, selection of identification items of accidental vehicles safety performance technical identification, the content and demand of the identification process.

Abstract: Nowadays, traffic accidents have become one of the ten major threats to human health, and reducing the damage to life and property has been the people's demands. Traffic accident analysis has its inherently regional difference. The main objectives of this paper is to conduct investigation and statistical analysis on the weather conditions, month, week, hour, road environment, the drivers age and driving-age of the accidents, based on the traffic accidents records of a Dalians transportation group from 2008 to 2012. According to the acquired statistics and countering the geographical and climatic characteristics of Dalian area, this paper put forward traffic accident prevention measures proposed for Dalian area:Timely safety education and training for the drivers, establishing enterprise safety culture and establishing and improving the safety management system of modern traffic.

Abstract: In the process of the traffic accidents confirmation, the identification of vehicle speed when accident occurred is often an important basis for accident confirmation. The paper firstly discusses the models of mechanics and solving method for the vehicle front face, rear end, sides face ,slanted side collision based on the theory of collision mechanics ,it describes how to identify the vehicle rate and collision angle based on the model simplification, the theoretical analysis for dealing with the complicated accidents. The common and formulas are studied based on the classical collision mechanics method. The application range, parameters involved in selection and influence of the formulas are analyzed in detail. Finally the program based on C# is developed according to the identified calculation process for vehicle speed of traffic accident. The vehicle speed is obtained by selecting the collision type, entering the relevant accident pattern, inputting the parameters and clicking the command button .The application can store, modify and display results conveniently , improve efficiency on vehicle speed identification effectively and reduce the processing cycle of traffic accident availably.

Abstract: The traffic emergent incidents bring great potential dangers to the water quality of open channel or river along highroads. In this paper, the discrimination model of risk grade was established to predict the degree of traffic emergent incidents with the transportation of pollutants in open channel. The numerical results show that the proposed method provides a technical support to predict and react on the environmental risks.
