Abstract: This paper present a prediction of the centrifugal force caused by the dynamic unbalanced of train wheelset on a developed scale down test bench. The wheelset dynamic unbalanced can be one of reasons for the derailment accidents on trains. Dynamic unbalance represented by the produced centrifugal force can be the main factor causing wear on bearings, noise, vibrations on the train, and the fatal cause of trains accident. The behavior prediction is carried out by applying various eccentricity values by varying the additional weights. The centrifugal force prediction of the developed equipment then compared with the actual size wheelset’s unbalance behavior. The comparison shows a similar pattern between this miniature and the actual size test-bench in terms of the magnitude of the centrifugal force at various eccentricities and rotational speeds. Abstract: Mid-Life Refurbishment (MLR) is a process conducted in many industries to improve or extend the life span of assets such as machines, infrastructures and systems. The objective of MLR works execution is to extend the life span, sustain the train performance and achieve system reliability. Typically, the refurbishment scope consists of overhaul, upgrading and rectification works. The biggest challenge is to determine) the scope of refurbishment works and to create equilibrium between the feasibility and viability of the project. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to discuss the current practice of performing MLR maintenance through the utilization of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and to transform the existing FMEA used by the automotive industry to fulfil the needs of Rolling Stock. The use of FMEA is critical in determining) the scope of train refurbishment work. It was carried out at the initial stages of the process in order to determine Risk Priority Number (RPN) to prioritize the type of refurbishment plans and scope. The design of the FMEA Worksheets, De-sign of FMEA severity Evaluation Criteria, Design of Occurrence Evaluation Criteria and Design of FMEA Prevention/Detection Criteria were adopted and adapted from the generic format so that it is coherent with Railway Industries. The results based on the transformation framework, the plan and scope of overhaul, upgrading and rectification were defined using the FMEA. Out of the 80 elements of MLR works that were analyzed using the FMEA approach, it was found that 46 elements needed overhaul, 23 elements needed upgrading and 11 elements needed rectification works. Finally, the application of the FMEA helped determine the MLR scope of work from 13 systems. The case study was taken from the Malaysia LRT Project, and currently the fleet has been in operation for more than 20 years (operated since year 1998).

Abstract: Traction transformers areheavy and suffering dynamic load all the time when the train is starting,stopping and moving. These load cases make it necessary to design tractiontransformers in fatigue resistance view. In this paper, random vibrationsimulation is done for traction transformer with finite element method. ThisFEM result is used for fatigue analysis. Several methods of damage accumulationfor random vibration are discussed and compared with test result. Result showssingle moment method is a better choice for traction transformers.

Abstract: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used for the investigation of the piston wind. The Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations and standard turbulence model were applied to set up the model. The train transient aerodynamic characteristic has been research during the crossing process. The simulation results are trustworthy and numerical simulation of piston wind is feasible using dynamic grid in CFD software, which provides the basis for the virtual design of piston wind. It is significant importance for further studying the structure of train, shorten its development and guiding significance for practical application.

Abstract: In the technology field of world's high-speed Computer Numerical Control (CNC) communications, accelerating research for remote communications signal technology will not only promote the development of China's high-speed remote technology, but also has far-reaching scientific value, industrial and economic value to the train remote communications. The new train remote communication technology is the basic topic with high technology, which has complicated procedures, in fact, contains mixture and summary of multi-skills, such as the compute control, application of sensor technology, the recognition of test skills and digital signal processing, and aggregation. Therefore, it can improve signal collection efficiency, and access to dynamic unbalance signal of the train remote communication signal.

Abstract: Current criteria to judge wheel skid of trains such as velocity difference often cannot recognize wheel skid timely and have no uniform critical value for different trains or railway lines. Aiming at the disadvantages, new criteria based on time series analysis are proposed. With appropriate method of order determination and parameter estimation, AR time series model is established for the data series of velocity difference. Then, Greens function and characteristic equation are constructed with the parameters of the model to determine wheel skid by the convergence state of Greens function or the value of characteristic equations roots. Simulation result shows that the two criteria based on time series model can recognize wheel skid earlier than velocity difference. Moreover, the roots of characteristic equation can also be used as a criterion with a uniform critical value under different application conditions.
