Abstract: The purpose of this paper focuses on adhesive layer strength while having a thermal cycling of honeycomb composite sandwich structure by using the uniform design of experiments method improving the von Mises stress of honeycomb structure. Three system parameters of the honeycomb structure are selected as the control factors to be improved. Uniform design of experiment is applied to create a set of simulation experiments. Applying ANSYS/Workbench software, the finite element modelling is investigated and the von Mises stress of the honeycomb structure is calculated under metal-honeycomb core flatwise tensile test. From the numerical results, the best honeycomb structure dimension of all the experiments which causes the smaller von Mises stress is selected as the improved version of design. Finally, the best model of the experiments which causes the minimum equivalent stress is regarded as the improved version of design. Compared with the original design, the result of ASTM C297 improved version is 17.386 MPa, which mean improved 36.28%, ASTM C364 improved version is 19.015 MPa, which mean improved 25.26%, ASTM C365 improved version is 16.86 MPa, which mean improved 12.35%.

Abstract: CAD / CAE model of plate structure is designed for plate heat exchanger provided by the manufacturer. Stamping process of the plate is simulated using Dynaform which is the special software of numerical simulation for sheet metal. The quality of plate stamping is analyzed by thinning rate, forming limit diagram (FLD) and other indicators, and compared with practical problems. At the same time, twelve levels experiments programs including ripple inclination, ripple normal pitch and ripple height are established according to uniform design principles based the parameters of ripple structure provided by manufacturer, and twelve chevron ripple plate models is established and their forming quality is analyzed with Dynaform Software. Influence and laws of plates three structural parameters, plates’ section parameters , BHF for stamping quality are studied and summarized, and the optimal choice of the plates is fond out to provide a theoretical basis for the actual production.

Abstract: In this paper the process of direct reduction of vanadium slag was adopted. The main factor was determined by uniform experimental design and single factor analysis, and then the optimum process condition was drawn by the test. The test results showed that the regression equation curve fitting of the experiment data was very significant, the main factors affecting the vanadium slag reduction (according to the primary and secondary order) was the content of anhydrous sodium carbonate, roasting temperature, roasting time and reduction of carbon content. The factors for the reduction of the optimum process conditions are the carbon coefficient 1.04, roasting temperature 1100°C, roasting reduction time 4h, 4% mass percent of anhydrous sodium carbonate and slag. Under the optimum conditions, the actual rate of weight loss and theory rate of weight were close to 0, the results could be reproduced, and the vanadium slag metallization rate was 75%~83%.

Abstract: A KCl-doped CaO solid alkali catalyst was obtained in a wet impregnation method and treated under microwave irradiation to obtain enhanced stability and activity. Then the catalyst was successfully used in the transesterification of refined waste cooking oil with methanol to produce biodiesel. A uniform design experimentation U7 (74) and regression analysis by DPS software were used to obtain the optimum conditions of transesterification at the lowest cost. Temperature 338K, catalyst amount 4.5% (wt./wt.oil) and methanol/oil molar ratio 9:1, after 90 min reaction, the fatty acid methyl esters yield reached 91.28% and the purity was over 99%, which was up to the national standard for B-100 biodiesel.

Abstract: Design and analysis of computer experiments (DACE) can solve the optimization design problem for stationary platen effectively. In this paper the method of uniform design is applied to obtain the design of computer experiments which is employed in the optimization design of the stationary platen. 3 factors (11 levels for each factor) are selected. The approximate Kriging model is built on the basis of the FEA results. 10 design points are selected randomly to verify the prediction ability of the Kriging model. The results show that the maximum of the relative error is 2.53% and the minimum is 0.63%. The approximate model built in this paper is practical in the optimization design of the stationary platen. The steps proposed in this paper are also suitable for the optimization design problems with complicated geometry or finite element model.

Abstract: Peat soil are widely distributed, and because of its special geological reasons, the severity of the problem to determine the Dian Lake region soft foundation and engineering difficulty of processing. This paper presents the methods through experiments with solidifying materials mixing into peat soils to strive to find a complex solidifying agent meeting the demand of engineering and special to peat soil. Two groups of optimal formulas for stabilizers were obtained by uniform design and their serviceability would be validated.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present an integrated procedure for the optimization of dimensions of the ITI dental implant with dynamic chewing loads. The procedure is composed of uniform design of experiments, explicit dynamics finite element analysis, Kriging interpolation, and Nelder-Mead simplex local search optimization method. Firstly, uniform design method is employed to create a set of experiments. Then, explicit dynamics finite element analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA is used to analyze the micromotion of cortical and cancellous bones while the dynamic chewing loads acts on the implant. Next, Kriging interpolation is applied to construct the surrogate model of micromotion based on the input and output data of experiments. Finally, Nelder-Mead simplex local search method is applied to find the optimal solution of dimensions of dental implant under the goal of minimizing the micromotion. After performing the optimization procedure presented in this paper, the micromotion of the ITI dental implant system model can successfully be reduced by a rate of 29.7 %.

Abstract: The purpose of the research was to investigate effect of compatibility between AlN nanoparticles and borated bis-succinimide on tribological properties of base oil. The load-carrying capacity and anti-wear (AW) performance of base oil that contains aluminum nitride (AlN) nanoparticles or borated bis-succinimide (T152B) additive was examined; the tribological properties of the compatibility between AlN and T152B were also examined. The experimental results showed that AlN nanoparticles additive can effectively improve load-carrying capacity and anti-wear performance of base oil. AlN nanoparticles and T152B compatibility experiments showed that two additives have synergies to improve anti-wear performance of base oil. These findings indicate that AlN nanopaticles is an excellent load-carrying capacity and antiwear additive, and it can be used with T152B together in base oil.

Abstract: By using LS-DYNA 3D software, the structure of forward annular shaped charge of torpedo tandem warhead is optimized in the simulation with uniform design method. During the simulation of annular shaped charge penetration into the plate underwater, the liner opening angle, liner thickness, charge height and charge angle are taken as factors, while the penetration depth is taken as index. The optimized structure parameters resulted form simulation can be used in the design of torpedo.
