Abstract: The moments transmitted by a universal joint in varying operating condition was investigated. A model of shaft system driven by a universal joint which consists of a driving shaft, a driven shaft and a cross piece is chose. Both structure misalignment and error misalignment between the two shafts at the universal joint was considered, and the study was based on the assumption that friction, inertia and elastic forces of the cross piece were disregarded. Two pairs of Euler angles were introduced to denote structure misalignment and error misalignment respectively, sets of reference frames were built up on the driving shaft, driven shaft and cross piece. Using direction cosine matrixes to describe the relation between different frames, then the expressions of components of the transmitted moment acting on the driven shaft were obtained via method of vector projection. Based on engineering fact, the transmitted moment model was simplified with respect to different misalignment conditions, such as only structure misalignment or only error misalignment is considered. Then for different misalignment situations, the lateral and torsional components of the transmitted moment acting on the driven shaft were simulated through numerical examples. It turns out that both the lateral moment and torque components will fluctuate based on the import torque, and that due to accelerating of the driving shaft, the fluctuation of transmitted moment will be more distinct, consequently, more complicated nonlinear dynamics behavior will arise.

Abstract: In order to enhance the sun tracking accuracy of photovoltaic power generation system and reduce the manufacturing cost of sun tracking devices, a new sun tracking method and corresponding tracking device was presented in this paper. The new method is to get two driving rotational angle parameters by conversing solar azimuth parameter and solar altitude parameter. According to the new parameters, the solar cell panel is driven to rotate as the universal-joint movement in order to track the sun. The new tracking device consists of solar direction monitoring module, parameter calculation module, driving device, direction error detection module, and feedback control module. It can acquire solar direction parameter to complete new angle parameters conversion and it can amend real-time interaction frequency and stride according to the direction error of solar cell panel. The new tracking device has features of high tracking accuracy, small tracking time intervals, simple structures and low manufacturing cost.

Abstract: This paper discuss the develepment of constant-universal joint and bing up a new type of constant-universal Joint through analysing the advantages and disadvantages of constant-universal joint and simulation of movement with PROE that testified its possibility of constantspeed.the new type constant-universal Joint can attain the same function of Thomson constant-universal Joint,iding capacity,low friction loss and bearing axial load.Further,it get a more effective centring type.

Abstract: The motion simulation of the twin tripod sliding universal joint was conducted by using the three-dimensional CAD software SolidWorks and the simulation results agree well with the theoretical studies. At the same time the visualization database offers the base for further research and development of this sort of joint.

Abstract: This work compares two kinds of kinematics simulation of the twin tripod sliding universal joint. On the basis of the structural characteristics of the twin tripod sliding universal joint, the multi-body dynamic model was established by using the CAD software Pro/E. Track of the tripod center and a lot of analysis results are obtained, It offers the base for further research of the universal joint.

Abstract: The structure and characteristic of the twin tripod sliding universal joint were studied in this paper. The degree of freedom was calculated theoretically and then the structure of this joint was improved to obtain single degree of freedom. At the same time, the degree of freedom of improved mechanisms was checked by using the CAD software Pro/E. This work offers the base for further research and development of this universal joint.

Abstract: This paper presents a new type of drill grinder based on a special universal joint. The special universal joint is composed of a parallel mechanism with three legs as the inputs. One can rotate as a spindle; other two legs can drive a moving platform and make a drill point get an accurate position in workspace. Due to the simple mechanical structure comparing the grinder with the existing conventional CNC cutting tool grinders, it should be easy for the grinder to manufacture at a low cost. In addition, inverse kinematic equations of the special type of universal joint are derived.
