Abstract: Green belt is a useful method to management growth of a city. It aims to prevent cities from growth irregularly, protect open spaces, provide recreational and educational space and prevent historic towns from urbanization. Green belt policy has been used to deal with the environment problems and nature conservation issues. Scotland has a long history of setting out green belt policy and putting it into practice successfully. This paper focus on comparing the green belt policy differences between Scotland and China based on history and planning system angles. The results of this study indicate that there are several problems during the process of setting and carrying out green belt policy in China. And it suggests that the green belt policy will be much more efficient by reducing planning procedures and increasing participation of local public.

Abstract: In recent years the tide of interest in ecocities is rising in China. The symbiotic integration of digital city and ecological city is the new model of urban development in the future. Gongqing DigiEcoCity is a strategic cooperation project between China and Finland to improve the living environment and build an ecological civilization. The paper defines the concept of DigiEcoCity and the practice of Gongqing DigiEcoCity supported by Finland in technology. Further, the paper explores the technological integration of digital city and ecocity from three aspects: Digi-concepts, Eco-concepts, City-concepts. Especially, the scalable, localisable and replicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Gongqing DigiEcoCity planning are put forward and discussed to testify its ecological suitability and livability. The paper argues that Gongqing DigiEcoCity is a model for an ideal city combining the principles of sustainable development, the innovations by the digital revolution and the urban functions necessary for providing a framework of good everyday life. The paper also argues that the concept of developing digiecocity requires not only the successful completion of a project and planning, but also the long-term maintenance in the practice and their acceptance by the public.

Abstract: Cybernetics in landscape architecture planning and design are discussed in this paper. There are many differences and characteristic in the area of design products compared with other industrial products. The control stages or steps include: information collection in previous designs, information feedback in the planning and design, information feedback in a building construction or in a partly-finished building, information feedback in the use of a finished building. The article studies integrated ecology and design, integrated uses in urban and landscape areas, the method of interdisciplinary working. System theory is involved in this paper to discuss relevant problems. The paper also discusses the major controllable factor in the ecological strategies, and then examines effective planning and design. This article argues the problem of ecological strategies in the landscape design and planning, and the main contents of ecological strategies. It includes the strategy of landscape sustainable development, which is in conflict with rapid economies and historic preservation, ecological conservation.

Abstract: The Guangzhou Subway System adopts a planning scheme that guides passengers through a system of symbolic colors for its routes. However, the designers seem to have neglected color blind's difficulty in distinguishing some hues when selecting the routes' symbolic colors, which suggests that color universal design theories are not properly applied in their design work. This research aims at evaluating Guangzhou Subway’s symbolic color and guidance system from the color universal design perspective. We use the Vischeck[1] to simulate and analyze the practical situation. In accordance with the analysis, solutions are recommended.

Abstract: This essay analyses the design of Stockholm Metro in Sweden, focusing on its planning and design of public art. Under special cultural background, Stockholm Metro has its own comprehension of public art and design. The design has successfully solved problems by giving vivid guidance to passengers in several ways: the use of colour decoration in stations, personalized designs of spaces and the changes of passengers’ sensory focuses, which are valuable to improve the management and the transportation quality of Metro in China.

Abstract: Ecological system theory in landscape architecture planning and design are discussed in this paper. The article studies the composition of urban, landscape and building ecosystem, integrated ecology and design, integrated uses in urban and landscape areas, the method of interdisciplinary working. System theory is involved in this paper to discuss relevant problems. In addition to these, the article gives account of ecological engineering in all-around, including ecological denotation and connotation analysis, the wider sense and the narrow sense, the general level and the high level about ecological engineering. This article argues the problem of ecological strategies in the landscape design and planning, and the main contents of ecological strategies. It includes the strategy of landscape sustainable development, which is in conflict with rapid economies and historic preservation, ecological conservation.
