Abstract: This study aimed at development and application of a numerical model; WHPANM (Water Hammer Phenomenon Analysis Numerical Model), to investigate the water hammer phenomenon in the penstock of the Keyal Khawar hydropower plant in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The model, written in Visual Basic, utilized the numerical method of characteristics to solve the momentum and continuity water hammer equations. Results indicated that using a 2.2 m diameter pipe resulted in a maximum and minimum pressure head of 1462 m and 1420 m. Increasing the diameter to 3.0 m decreased the maximum pressure head to 1448 m, while the minimum pressure head increased to 1422 m. Conversely, decreasing the diameter to 1.0 m led to a maximum and minimum pressure head of 1522 m and 1363 m, respectively. Regarding pipe length, a standard length of 900 m maintained maximum and minimum pressure heads at 1462 m and 1420 m, respectively. Extending length to 1400 m increased maximum pressure head to 1485 m. Conversely, shortening length to 300 m resulted in a decreased maximum pressure head of 1436 m, with minimum pressure head remaining constant at 1420 m. To prevent water hammer damage in high head hydropower plants, study recommends utilizing a 2.2 m diameter penstock pipe and coordinating valve closure times accordingly. The study suggests a systematic design approach, optimal penstock diameter, and less rigid pipe materials to mitigate water hammer effects. The WHPANM model demonstrated strong concordance with the original data generated by the commercial software employed by the consultant for the Kyal Khwar hydropower plant.

Abstract: The construction project consists of several components, one of them is a reinforced concrete. Reinforced concrete construction contributes to 30% of the total budget or 80% of the total civil work. Meanwhile, judging from the proportion provided by the use of steel reinforcement reaches 45% of the contribution of the use of reinforced concrete. The use of steel reinforcement that is not planned well lead to cost overruns and the resulting increase in waste production. The waste is unlikely to be used again because the length does not qualify the existing needs. In terms of environmentally wasteful use of steel reinforcement is not aligned with the slogan green construction. According to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in 2012 the production of steel reinforcement produces CO2 gas 430 kg CO2 eq /ton. On the other hand, local contractors in Surakarta never planning the use of steel reinforcement. Contractors plans and cuts of reinforcement. It increase potential construction waste due to inaccurate planning. Therefore in this study are create a computer program to design a model of bending reinforcing steel. Finally, steel reinforcement planning are better obtained. This program is applied to create a Visual Programming software, ACAD, Crystal Report, and Microsoft Database. Visual Programming is used as a place store of scripts and programs to connect database and Crystal Report. Microsoft database used to store data and Crystal Report are employed to display the results of the program. Furthermore, scheduling program of bar bender can be created. the time of production of reinforcement detailed is faster. By inputing a cross-section measurements and information reinforcement used various bending of reinforcement pieces are produced automatically. Crystal Report output can be made a flexible and attractive form to look at as well as the ability to transfer to other programs such as MS Word, Excel and PDF. Output can display different forms of reinforcement pieces with illustrated picture and the required amount of steel reinforcement in accordance with the dimensions and types.

Abstract: To change the empty talk phenomenon of the research of a current AC servo system, virtual reality technology is used to develop the virtual simulation system of an AC servo system. This article described the fundamental principle of the sinusoidal pulse width modulation, introduced the functional structure of the virtual system. The fundamental principle of a wave display and the treatment of the key detail problems were solved. In the end, an example of the AC servo system simulation was given. The simulation of the AC servo system can be used as a soft device instead of a real one, and provide a technology platform for the development of a new AC servo system.

Abstract: Residual stress determination requirements of production and research users grow rapidly. Commercially available programs enable relatively quick residual stress evaluation with certain level of accuracy and with limited user access to used compliance matrices and calculations. However precise analyses require sensitive approach to compliance matrices determined for individual case e.g. for specific specimen dimensions. Therefore program tools for complex residual stress evaluation by Ring-Core method were developed using finite element analysis and Visual Basic scripts.

Abstract: This paper presents sizing software for the design of a solar farm system. The sizing software provides few guidelines to the designer for the planning procedure before the final of optimum array configuration is decided. Some specifications that the designer may consider are the type of PV module, the type of inverter, the available space for installation, the required energy per year and also the sum of money to be allocated for the instalment. The output result of this software will be the suggestion of possible configuration of the total number of modules in series per string with the total number of strings in parallel. This software also does the prediction of the system performances such as final yield, specific yield and performance ratio. The expected income is provided by the software is based on the Feed-in Tariff rates and the energy generated by the system.

Abstract: At present, there are mainly two methods to forecast the quantity of surface evaporation: one is by time series analysis, another is by climate models. This paper established models to simulate the surface evaporation in Liaoyang based on grey theory, and developed a grey forecasting software for surface evaporation using Visual Basic. From the annual depreciation from 1998 to 2010 in Liaoyang station in Liaoning Province, a grey forecasting model was established, which was then used to predict the quantity of surface evaporation in Liaoyang from 2011 to 2015.

Abstract: Die-Set is one of the Punching/Blanking die components. It includes lower and upper shoes, guide posts and guide bushes. The High demand of Die-Set in industry resulted in the supply of specified die set from many manufacturing companies. The standard components in the market cover only the small and medium die sizes. In many cases, the designers need to build their own die-sets especially in case of progressive die design and non-tradition die sizes. In this paper, a CAD system for building a Die-Set is discussed. This system is built using Visual Basic (VB) interfacing with AutoCAD. The system covers all Die-Sets sizes (small, medium). The proposed CAD system is prepared to work as a standalone or as a subroutine for a blanking die design CAD system. It saves time in Die-Set design operation from hours to minutes. This module is a part of a series of studies to automate the design of sheet metal working tools.
