Abstract: The technology of Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks (HWSNs) is critical to the efficient operation and deployment of a variety of real-time Internet of Things (IoT) and Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). It is crucial for reducing overall energy dissipation and ensuring consistent energy distribution throughout the network. Bio-inspired hybrid optimization algorithms are emerging as a possible option for overcoming basic difficulties in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), with a focus on sensor lifespan restrictions. A significant topic that must be considered prior to network configuration is attaining energy efficiency and optimal communication. Several papers have been published on the use of bio-inspired algorithms in WSNs. Few articles, however, addressed the hybrid strategy for routing and clustering in WSNs with communication. This research focuses on hybrid bio-inspired optimization algorithms and elaborates on their taxonomy and problem domains in WSNs. Furthermore, we explored and investigated the hybridization of the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) with other meta-heuristic algorithms such as the Genetic Algorithm (GA), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and others. This review can assist researchers in exploring the uses of such algorithms within and outside of this study area.

Abstract: Nowadays Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a very promising device to monitor environmental events, which are used in many application areas such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, air-water pollution, greenhouse, health monitoring, structural monitoring etc. Also, WSN needs effective and efficient way of collecting data from the area over which it is deployed, since the network consists of battery-operated nodes with limited energy. Improving the lifetime of WSN for continuous monitoring applications are very essential because of simple deployment, low installation cost, lack of cabling, and high mobility. The better energy conservation and reliable data transmission would be achieved in WSN by adopting efficient routing protocols for better and reliable communication. Also, security in data transmission in WSN is still a challenging task. Hence, a better way of encryption has to be computed to promote a reliable transmission between the nodes. In this paper discusses about different routing protocols which support energy efficiency and security techniques in WSN.

Abstract: Wireless sensor network routing protocol is to prolong the survival time of wireless sensor networks by using the sensor nodes energy efficiently. Traditional LEACH protocol is random in the election of the cluster head, if a less energy node is first elected as a cluster head node, then the node might die soon, it will greatly reducing the lifetime of the network. In order to collect data more efficiently and prolong the network life cycle,we need better clustering protocol. Aim at the traditional LEACH protocol have some weakness, this paper improve the protocol based on traditional LEACH protocol, two influence factors which the residual energy and the number of elected cluster head of the nodes had been introduced to make the clustering more ideal. Simulation results show that compared to the traditional Leach algorithm ,the improved LEACH protocol can prolong the network life cycle more effective and reduce the energy consumption of the whole network.

Abstract: Constructing a hybrid wireless sensor networks comprising a mix of static sensors and mobile sensors can achieve a balance between improving coverage and reducing the cost of the network. In order to achieve high network coverage, mobile sensor move from a small to a big size of coverage hole in the hybrid wireless sensor networks. Due to the energy of the mobile sensor is limited, how to reduce the moving distance of the mobile sensor and reduce the energy consumption in the process of moving is a very important issue. This paper proposes a distributed minimum cost matching algorithm (DMMA) to redeploy mobile sensor, which can make the level of network coverage to meet the requirement of the environment, while effectively reducing the number of sensors. In our method, static sensors detect coverage hole by Voronoi diagrams, coverage holing sensors and mobile sensors by using DMMA to excellently heal the large coverage holes. Simulation results show that our method can effectively improve the coverage rate of the WSNs, while save the energy of mobile sensors.

Abstract: Many traditional tremor sensors are in direct contact with the human body, we tried a new non-contact manner, using the ZigBee standard protocol stack, and constitutes a wireless sensor network (Wireless Sensor Network, WSN), so that it can meet the pathological signal acquisition under low power consumption. In this experiment the main object is to capture the tremor signal from the surface of Parkinson's patients, as well as the feasibility of this new approach. Taking into account the reliability of the data and the transmission efficiency of the whole system, we use the structure of the ZigBee-based star network, and in the receiving terminal to achieve a variety of interfaces to facilitate the transfer, storage and use of other systems and data access.

Abstract: In wireless sensor network, there are several links from one node to another, selecting the high quality link from the links is an important basic research. As a general algorithm, the typical link selection algorithm is usually used in selecting the high quality link, but the typical link selection algorithm needs lots of data packages as the testing samples. But the energy of a wireless sensor network is limited; therefore, the typical link selection algorithm is not suitable for wireless sensor network. The paper puts forward two new Bayesian link selection algorithms. Simulation results showed that the news algorithms have better performance than typical link selection algorithm in the case of small samples.

Abstract: Clustering the sensor nodes and choosing the way for routing the data are two key elements that would affect the performance of a wireless sensor network (WSN). In this paper, a novel clustering method is proposed and a simple two-hop routing model is adopted for optimizing the network layer of the WSN. New protocol is characterized by simplicity and efficiency (SE). During the clustering stage, no information needs to be shared among the nodes and the position information is not required. Through adjustment of two parameters in SE, the network on any scale (varies from the area and the number of nodes) could obtain decent performance. This work also puts forward a new standard for the evaluation of the network performance—the uniformity of the nodes' death—which is a complement to merely taking the system lifetime into consideration. The combination of these two aspects provides a more comprehensive guideline for designing the clustering or routing protocols in WSN.
