Abstract: Wax emulsion was modified by adding high polymer latex,in order to improve the film-forming ability and sealing ability of wax emulsion,and improve the brittleness of parafilm to prevent it from cracking. By orthogonal design experiment to analysis the dosage of various materials for curing compound,and based on effective water retention and concrete compressive strength ratio the two indicators to determine the optimal mixture ratio of curing compound.

Abstract: To improve scratch-resistance and abrasion-resistance of water-based varnish, change the type of water-based resin, the type and content of wax emulsion and flow agent, then test scratch-resistance and abrasion-resistance of water-based varnish. The results show that resin and wax emulsion has a great influence on the scratch-resistance and abrasion-resistance of water-based varnish. Adding appropriate amount of wax emulsion can improve scratch-resistance and abrasion-resistance to some extent. Adding flow agent has certain influence on scratch-resistance of water-based varnish.

Abstract: Castor-oil stalk is one kind of excellent woody materials, and the thickness swelling ( TS ) of the castor-oil stalk based panel with Urea- formaldehyde resin ( UF ) cannot meet the requirement of the Standard of People’s Republic of China. the TS of the panel was improved with wax emulsion.Results showed that the mechanical properties and the TS of the particle panels were improved as the wax emulsion loading increased. The TS of castor stalk based particle boards and fiber boards can meet the requirement of standard of PRC when 1.44 and 1.2 wt% wax emulsion, respectively, was added.

Abstract: The glossiness is an important indicator of evaluation polishing printed matter. The water-soluble varnish consisting of different content and kinds of promoter is prepared. Then proofs are coating by wire rods. Measuring glossiness of proofs, we analyze the influence of promoter on glossiness of water-soluble varnish. The results show that adding cosolvent, substrate wetting agent, flow agent, wax emulsion and other promoter in water-soluble varnish can improve the glossiness of water-soluble varnish film. When cosolvent ethanol was adding to 3%, the film glossiness achieves about 80 and adding a small amount of wax emulsion, flow agents, the film glossiness can be increased about 10%.

Abstract: Straw fibers were modified by acrylic acid coating treatment, and mechanical properties of straw fibers reinforced gypsum composite were investigated. Wax emulsion was added in order to improve waterproof properties of gypsum composite. Surface modification effect of straw fibers and micro-morphology of gypsum composite were analyzed by scanning electron microscope, infrared spectrometer and mercury porosimeter. The mechanism of modified straw fibers and wax emulsion in improving performances of gypsum composite was discussed.

Abstract: Nanosized yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia powders were prepared by chemical co-precipitation. By adding certain amount of wax emulsion, we obtained green compacts with the relative density ranged from 47% to 60%. Then the green compacts were sintered in air at the temperature from 1350°C to 1550°C. It turned out that the 3Y-TZP compacts were nearly fully densified after sintering at 1350°C and the grain sizes were between 200 to 300 nm. This result suggested that the addition of wax emulsion could improve the wettability between powders, elevated the density of the green compacts so that the coordination number and the contact points between particles were increased. With more transfer passages, the sintering behavior is remarkably improved.
