Abstract: The paper analyzed on wear failure mechanism of the helical gear of wind turbine. Then, according to the characteristics of the gear transmission, the helical gear integrated wear value was calculated. Considering gear transmission steadily, the ultimate integrated wear quantity was determined by gear transmission accuracy. Finally, the helical gear wear life model was derived, which had an important guiding significance on the wear life prediction of helical gear pair, gear parameter optimization design and wear condition monitoring.

Abstract: Under continuous cutting conditions, the reliability of alumina-based ceramic cutting tools wear life with abrasion wear was discussed extensively. An ultimate state equation of alumina-based ceramic cutting tools wear life was proposed according to stress-strength interference theory. Based on the premise that the probability distribution of random parameters has been known, the fracture toughness KIC and the hardness H which obey Weibull distribution were transformed into normal distribution by means of the equivalent normal distribution method, and then the reliability of alumina-based ceramic cutting tools wear life was analyzed by saddle point approximation method. The probability density function and cumulative distribution function of the ultimate state equation were accurately and quickly obtained by way of saddle point approximation, as a result, the saddle point approximation method was proved accurate with high computing speed in comparison with the Monte-Carlo method. Therefore, the application of the saddle point approximation method developed the reliability analysis theory of alumina-based ceramic cutting tools wear life.

Abstract: A method of modeling and kinematics simulating of a typical flexible folding mechanism in multi-software platform was proposed in this paper, which aimed at its complex nonlinear dynamic characters. Based on this method, parameterized modeling and kinematics simulation of a typical folding mechanism was put forward firstly, and then the reliability analysis and wear lifetime analysis of folding mechanism were studied through different reliability analysis methods. Finally, the wear life of such folding mechanism was optimized. The optimization results showed that the Maximum stress level was decreased and the wear life was increased significantly.

Abstract: Life prediction for a component can’t instead of its life tests, even so it has a very important guiding significance for the optimization design and material selection of the component, and it can decrease great loss caused by design mistakes, also possibly avoid detours, especially on initial development stage. It also is an important stage of the lifecycle design of a component. According to a certain working condition, this paper predicts the wear life of a large diameter hydraulic directional spool valve with 2-position 4-way for the hydraulic system of a high speed winch, combined with the surface micro-topography of the valve body and spool, and influence factors to the fit clearance changing caused by wear, such as shaping form errors, lateral force, matching materials, hydraulic medium and so on. The result shows that the wear life of the large diameter spool valve is more than 10 million times. The prediction provides a theoretical basis for the independent development of this valve, and has a certain reference for the design of this kind of components.

Abstract: Dry sliding wear resistance of DLC coated silicon disk with different surface roughness has been evaluated using a ball-on-disk sliding tester. It was found that the transfer layer formed on steel ball produced a low friction regime and the formation of transfer layer was more active with increasing the substrate surface roughness. The wear life of DLC coating was increased as increasing the real area of contact.
