Abstract: In this paper, we research the relief of surfaces of wedge bodies of freewheeling mechanisms. The results obtained by scanning probe microscope let us correct predicted deterioration parameters of a wedge body and consider the effect of surfaces’ altitude quality indicators while designing mechanisms. Mark out relative area of bearing.

Abstract: This article addresses the boundary layer flow and heat transfer in Casson fluid submerged with dust particles over three different geometries (vertical cone, wedge and plate). The aspects of Cattaneo-Christov heat flux and exponential space-based heat source (ESHS) are also accounted. At first, the partial differential equations are transformed into a set of ordinary differential equations via appropriate similarity transformations. Resulting equations are solved via shooting method coupled with the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg-45 integration scheme. The consequences of dimensionless parameters on velocity and temperature fields of both fluid and dust particles phase are analyzed. The rate of increment/decrement in the skin friction as well as the Nusselt number for various values of physical parameters are also estimated via slope of linear regression line using data points.

Abstract: In the hot rolling process, the steel slab may experience a temperature gradient along its transverse direction which may cause camber and wedge after rolling. Camber and wedge phenomenon will affect the quality of the steel plate. To eliminate camber and wedge phenomenon, a pair of side guides is placed before and behind the hot rolling mill. The position mode and the force mode are the control modes for side guides to correct the slab shape and to guide the slab to follow rolling direction. Finite element analysis using ABAQUS was applied to simulate hot rolling process to find the correction mechanism of rolling equipment. The centerline of slab was traced and the shape of slab was predicted. The difference of rolling load between work side and drive side of roller was determined. Furthermore, the load, stress and velocity distribution on the slab at roll bite were analyzed. By using numerical model, hot rolling parameters including side guide control strategy can be predicted, which can provide the hot rolling line as a guideline to improve the quality of the steel slab.

Abstract: The structural integrity of a jet pump assembly of a boiling water reactor (BWR) under hydrodynamic loading was evaluated. This arrangement, which has a riser joined with a couple of jet pumps by the transition piece, is part of the reactor recirculation system. It is submerged in water under pressure. The main function is to induce forced flow through the core of the reactor. A dynamic structural analysis was carried out with the finite element method. The first ten modes of vibration and their natural frequencies were calculated. The first five natural frequencies are in the range between 25 Hz and 40 Hz. In this analysis, it was considered that the jet pump assembly is supported at the riser brace. The restrainer bracket keeps together the riser with the two jet pumps and there is free movement at the slip joints.

Abstract: The turbine generator rotor and the wedge is an important part of the turbogenerator. In order to ensure the stability and reliability of the steam turbine during operation, it needs to calculate and analyze the strength of the generator rotor and the wedge. In this paper, we did the study of the turbine generator rotor and the strength of the wedge by finite element analysis. by using ANSYS software, when in operating speed and speeding, we compared to the results of the calculation of plane and solid elements, and found that the safety factor of the plane was lower. Based on the results of two calculations, we got the generator rotor structure modification and optimization of the structural design, which improve the strength of the generator rotor tooth head and wedge.

Abstract: Designing wedge falling-proof brake assembly of the lifter to protect the converter oxygen lance and other equipments. This paper briefly introduces the design principle. Pro/Engineer-based parametric solid modeling for virtual assembly of the falling-proof brake assembly, and then motion simulation, the working process of the wedge falling-proof brake assembly demonstrated through the animation demonstration, so the simulation is accurate and clear; at the same time falling distance is derived from the rope broken to the lifter locked through mechanical analysis, and putting forward the measures to reduce falling distance of brake at last.

Abstract: Failure in anisotropic/isotropic bi-materials starts at the interface, and the interfacial failure is of interest to some engineering fields such as automobile and aviation industry. Many researchers have done a lot of research on this field, but many did not consider a specific stress component near the interface corner tip as a parameter of a failure criterion. Kun Cheol Shin, introducted a failure criterion for anisotropic/isotropic bi-materials problem with a wedge. But the process of obtaining the singular stress fields of anisotropic/isotropic bi-materials is complex. To solve this problem, we have taken a new method which is from Xuecheng-Ping and M.-C. Chen. The method is new, which is based on displacement and more easily in calculating the stress and displacement fields surrounding a wedge tip than before. Through this method, we establish a criterion base on the-plan. The failure criterion can be used not only to predict stress intensities of co-cured double lap joints that with thermal and mechanical load, but also to predict stress intensities of co-cured double lap joints that with different materials or lap length. And we describe the process of calculating singular stress fields and stress intensities of co-cured double lap joints with a wedge that consists of glass fiber reinforced composites and steel adherends.

Abstract: This paper proposes a idea of microfibril preparation with physical methods. Through the design of wedge structure of experiment table and with the condition of the dynamic pressure jet putting the soften the micro wood fibers to cell wall by squeezing and shearing and torsion and so on and forming the microfibril test specimen. This paper describes the development of foreign microibrils of the status, pointing out the significance of microfibril preparation and application prospects. And to develop the corresponding technical route and to analyze the feasibility of microfibril preparation.

Abstract: A optic method to measure the density of gas is put forward. That is, by using the optical Wedge structure to build air chamber and chamber for gas under test, and by measuring the differences of the optical Wedge interference fringes of the two rooms, the density of gas has been measured. The interference theory of Wedge has been theoretical analyzed, and a formula which can be used to measure the refractive index of gas is put forward, and the uncertainty of the measurement has been analyzed. The parameters of gas density, refractive index and gas thickness have been used in the formula. The results show that the method of optical Wedge interference is practical, and high measurement accuracy is achievement when the density of gas is high.

Abstract: Energy dissipation equation is obtained from the virtual work principle. By assuming different initiative sliding directions, methods of upper bound solution and classical solution for rock wedge stability are deduced. The computational formulas of safety factor indicate that the safety factor of wedge is depended on the areas of sliding surfaces and the volume of the wedge rather than the shape of the slope when the attitude and strength of discontinuities is given. Therefore the current wedge method can be improved to overcome the weakness that the current method is inapplicable when the slope shape is greatly rugged and the wedge is surrounded by more than three discontinuities. As an example, the improved method is applied in the left bank slope of Baihetan hydropower station. The calculation results obtained by the improved methods is more reasonable and credible.
