Research on Vehicle Longitudinal Following Control Modeling and Collaborative Simulation

The vehicle longitudinal following control system has been widely used in several intelligent-vehicle applications as a kind of assist automatic driving system. On basic of general introduction and analysis of existing vehicle dynamics models, the paper choose vehicle power train model as an example to show the choice of control system structure and PID control strategy, and then researched the collaborative simulation based on driver safety distance model and entire vehicle following model for freeway. So we got an adaptive safety distance through Matlab/Simulink, which distance error is less than 0.01m. At the end, this paper putted forward prospect of vehicle assist automatic driving system.
