Study on Fire Retardant Properties of Flaky Mg(OH)2 Nano-Powders

Mg(OH)2 is a kind of inorganic fire retardant additive with many excellent properties. In this paper, taking MgSO4 as magnesium source and mixed alkali solution of NaOH and ammonia water as precipitant, flaky Mg(OH)2 powders were synthesized via precipitation method. The fire retardancies of product were tested through preparing and characterizing fire retardant paint, which completely meet the first technical requirements of national standard.
