Effect of Moisture Content on the Tensile Properties of Viscose Filaments

Tensile strength of the viscose fibers is significantly influenced by the environment moisture. In this paper, single-fiber strength tester and single-yarn tester were adopted to test the strength of the viscose fiber and filament with different moisture contents. The results showed that the strength property of viscose filament was decreased after moisture absorption. When the moisture content of the yarn increases, the strength of the filament improved gradually and increments tend to be stable.
