The concept of evaluating deformation mechanism in terms of the interactions of defects was considered. The effects of stress changes during the introduction of defects into strained heterostructures, redistribution of defects in the fields of stresses, changes in capture cross-section due to interactions between defects and the appearance of average stresses in a crystal with defects were considered. The main deformation which was characteristic of a defect was proposed to be a strain tensor around the defect in an infinite perfect crystal.
