The migration of KCl molecules on the (110) surfaces of Ag monocrystals was investigated by using photo-emission methods. The behavior of the quantum yield distribution curves was examined at various substrate temperatures. An analysis of Fowler's theoretical photo-emission curves was made and compared with experiment. This revealed the nucleation of KCl molecules as a result of their migration on the Ag surface, within a defined temperature range, and permitted the activation energy for migration to be determined.
