Numerical values of the frequency factors and activation energies for the diffusion of Cu and Zn in α-brass were deduced from published experimental data. The compositional dependence of the optimized parameters was presented in terms of computer-generated phase diagram methods. The assessment exhibited excellent consistency, but a discrepancy was found to exist with regard to some of the early experimental intrinsic diffusion coefficients. The results were considered in terms of defect accumulation due to a strong vacancy flux.
