It was noted that 2 models which had recently been proposed for the explanation of strength anomalies were based upon various jog behaviours. In one model, the jogs were supposed to move conservatively along the screw direction. In the other model, screw dislocation motion was supposed to be controlled by jog or dipole dragging. The flow stresses which were expected for these cases were calculated. The first model was shown to operate up to the stress peak temperature. It was replaced by the latter when the temperature was raised above the peak.
