Current knowledge concerning extrinsic and intrinsic point defects in these materials, as obtained by using electron paramagnetic resonance and related techniques, was reviewed. Particular attention was paid to the properties of intrinsic defects such as vacancies (VCd, and VTe) and complexes (VCd-donor, donor-VCd-donor).
