Multiply-twinned crystals were analyzed by means of transmission electron microscopy, and the twin variant was identified as having a B-type base-centered orthorhombic crystalline structure (a = 1.92, b = 1.24, c = 6.14nm) which was a (2/1,5/3)-type Fibonacci approximant to the decagonal quasi-crystalline Al-Pd-Mn phase. A phase transformation from a decagonal quasi-crystal, via a multiply-twined crystal, to 2-fold twins was revealed by an analysis of the results.
