By using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, a long-period grain boundary was observed in -Ti. The misorientation angle was 29.0. Simulated images which had been generated by means of molecular statics methods, and a multi-slice algorithm, were compared with experimental images in order to investigate the atomic structure of the grain boundary. The modelled structure which gave the best fit to the experimental structure was found to be an asymmetrical 27.5 (2,¯2,0,15)/[11¯20] grain boundary.
