The validity of these relationships, which related phenomenological coefficients to tracer diffusion coefficients in alloys, was considered. Although they had been derived originally for a random alloy, it was shown here that they were equally valid for an isotropic binary ordered alloy model in which the 2 sub-lattices had equal numbers of sites and in which only inter-sublattice jumps were possible; such as the B2 structure. However, other ordered structures where intra-sublattice jumps occurred, (L12, DO3) were expected to require more extensive additional considerations. It was concluded that the Manning relationships could be safely applied to random alloys and to the above ordered alloys.
