Hyperfine magnetic fields at 57Fe probe atoms, distributed in the intercrystalline diffusion zones of polycrystals, were determined. It was found that the magnetic properties of the grain-boundary core, and of lattice regions adjacent to the grain boundaries in Rh and Ir, were nearly the same. The dimensions of the spin-polarized clusters, which appeared around every atomic probe in Pd and Pt, were smaller in the grain-boundary core than in the normal lattice.
