The structures of inversion domain boundaries in sintered ceramic samples were studied by means of convergent-beam electron diffractometry and high-resolution electron microscopy. The displacement vectors at a flat or curved inversion domain boundary were found to be 0.11<00•1> + 0.02<1¯1•0> or 0.17<00•1> + 0.03<¯11•0>, respectively. An interfacial model was developed for the flat inversion domain boundary. The model involved a single Al-O(N) octahedron layer at the interface, and had a stacking sequence of ... cAaC-cAb-BaAb ..., where -cAb- indicated the single Al-O(N) octahedron layer.
