The grain boundary diffusivities of 48V in binary Fe-Cr alloys with 8 to 12wt%Cr (table 16), in a ternary Fe-8Cr-0.17wt%C alloy and in 2 modifications of 8%Cr ferritic steel were determined by using serial sectioning methods at temperatures ranging from 743 to 1103K. It was found that varying the Cr concentration from 8 to 12wt% did not affect the grain boundary diffusivity. The diffusivity of V in steels of commercial purity was about 4 times slower than in pure alloys.
