The interstitial and substitutional site occupations, and site-specific magnetic behaviors, of implanted Fe impurities were studied in the face-centered cubic phase by using perturbed angular -ray distribution techniques and in-beam Mössbauer spectroscopy. A marked magnetism was observed in the case of interstitial Fe atoms; which exhibited a rather stable local moment, and Korringa-like spin dynamics. The overall experimental results were consistent with the predictions of local spin density calculations for relaxed octahedral interstitials and for substitutional Fe sites.
