It was recalled that Somigliana dislocations could be considered to be semi-infinite planar arrays of continuously distributed infinitesimal dislocations. If the Burgers vector of the dislocations was perpendicular to the plane of the Somigliana dislocation, the defect was called a wedge disclination and was a linear defect. For Somigliana dislocations with the Burgers vector in the plane of the dislocation, the infinitesimal dislocations could be of screw or edge type. The present work derived the stress fields of in-plane edge Somigliana dislocation dipoles and quadrupoles within the framework of linear isotropic elasticity. The results could be applied to dislocation problems, to inclusions, and to the modelling of martensitic transformations.
