A first catalogue of the possible reconstructions of the (001) surfaces of these materials was compiled. The symmetries which were observed included 1x1, 2x1, 2x4, 4x6, 3x4, 4x3, 2x3, 3x3, 1x3, 3x1, 4x2, 4x1 and 8x2. The reconstructions which were observed, under various growth and non-growth conditions, were used to construct phase diagrams as a function of the group-V and group-III fluxes and the temperature. It was noted that knowledge of the phase boundaries could serve as a guide for epitaxial growth processes.
