Lomer-Cottrell misfit dislocations in [001] Ga0.8In0.2As/GaAs single heterostructures were observed by means of high-resolution electron microscopy. It was found that they resulted from the interaction of 2 parallel 60 dissociated misfit dislocations which lay on intersecting {111} planes. Elasticity calculations could be used to estimate the geometrical conditions under which interactions could occur.
