It was recalled that some of the Chevrel phases exhibited unusual cationic mobilities. This was particularly true of those which contained transition metals. Electron paramagnetic resonance evidence was presented here for the existence of mobile Cu2+ ions in the present material. There was also evidence for the presence of Hg+ ions. It was suggested that this supported a model which related site change to the reaction: A2+ + e- A+ during ionic conductivity.
