The interaction of lattice dislocations with inter-phase boundaries in an austenitic-ferritic steel during plastic deformation was investigated. It was found that this interaction could result in direct slip transfer across / boundaries, leading to a relaxation of the stress concentrations which appeared at interfaces. It was shown that this process was strongly affected by the inter-phase boundary structure.
