The properties of Ce1-xPrxO2 solid solutions, prepared here hydrothermally for the first time, were investigated for x-values of between 0 and 0.5. The uniform and small (35 to 50nm) particle size of the hydrothermally prepared materials permitted sintering of the samples into highly dense ceramic pellets at 1300C. The maximum total conductivity was found for an x-value of 0.30; yielding values of 0.014S/cm at 700C and 0.0059S/cm at 600C, with an activation energy of 0.47eV. The electronic contribution to the total conductivity was about 50%.
