The coherent dynamics of a vibronic wave packet in F centers were considered. The temporal evolution of single-electron wave packets was observed following fs laser excitation. Electron dynamics led to sub-ps periodic oscillations of the sample transmission. These were monitored in real time, using pump-probe techniques, and this yielded directly the vibrational frequencies of the localized modes that were associated with the ground and excited electronic states. These results, together with stationary optical characterization, provided further insight into the configuration coordinate model for F centers.
