Dense polycrystalline specimens were prepared by sinter forging. The specimens exhibited excellent phase purity and a strong c-axis texture which was preferentially aligned parallel to the forcing direction. The chemical diffusion coefficient of O, in a pure O atmosphere, could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 1.78 x 10-3 exp[-0.96(eV)/kT]
on the ab-plane. The measurements suggested that these values were much higher than those for diffusion in the c-axis direction.
