A composite electrolyte with the eutectic composition was synthesized by means of directional crystallization, and was characterized by using X-ray diffraction and electron microscopic methods. It was found that the conductivity of the composite was between 0.002 and 0.007S/cm. This was about an order of magnitude higher than that of LaF3 at 500K.
