Solid solutions of the form, LaGa1-x-yCoxMgyO3, with a rhombohedrally-distorted perovskite structure, were found to exist for y-values of between 0 and 0.10, at an x-value of 0.60, and for an y-value of 0.20 and x-values of 0.35 to 0.40. Increasing the Co content resulted in an increased conductivity. The doping of La(Ga,Co)O3 solid solutions with Mg led to an increased O non-stoichiometry and O ionic conductivity. The O permeation flux through LaGa1-x-yCoxMgyO3 membranes was found to be limited by the bulk ionic conductivity, and to increase with the Mg concentration. It was essentially independent of the Co content.
