Results were presented which had been obtained by using simple models to represent intermetallic compounds with the L12 structure. The results were compared with those for solid solutions in the same system. The use of 2 series of investigations permitted the characterization of the total atomic mobility (including the formation and migration of vacancies) by determining the relaxation kinetics of the atomic order (short-range or long-range), and of the vacancy mobility by determining the elimination of excess vacancies. A large effect of the chemical composition was demonstrated for both the solid solutions and the intermetallic compounds.
