The formation of LaGa1-xNixO3 solid solutions with perovskite structures was observed for x-values ranging from 0 to 0.5. The replacement of Ga by Ni resulted in an increasing O non-stoichiometry and electronic and ionic conductivities (table 1). The O-ion transference numbers in air at 1070 to 1220K, as determined by means of Faradaic efficiency measurements, did not exceed 0.005. The O permeation flux increased with the Ni content and was limited mainly by the bulk ionic conductivity. A reduction in the O partial pressure led to a decrease in electronic transport and an increase in ionic conductivity.
