The relationship between microstructure and ionic conductivity was investigated. It was found that the grain-boundary conductivities increased with sinterability (reciprocal of pore-size) and grain size. The grain conductivity was enhanced by an increase in the grain-boundary conductivity. It appeared that, the higher the ionic conductivity in the grain, the smaller was this enhancement.
