A model was proposed for the appearance of diffusional anisotropy in a textured polycrystalline aggregate in which grain boundary diffusion predominated. It was noted that, although there existed a distribution over 5 degrees of freedom in the macroscopic description of the textured crystal, it was the misorientation distribution that tended to give rise to a diffusional anisotropy.
