It was recalled that structural state diagrams, for ionic crystals with an NaCl-type lattice, indicated the presence of at least 2 types of cellular dislocation structure which did not contribute to local lattice misorientation. Here, generalized data were presented concerning these low-energy dislocation structures. Their manner of formation, and their properties were considered from the point of view of dislocation-wall structural analysis, and the simulation of dislocation array-formation dynamics.
