Recent work on a continuum model for crystal twinning was described. The twinning was described as being an anti-plane shear deformation, with discontinuous strains, governed by an elastic potential with multiple wells. Possible shapes of twin lamellae and twinning steps were studied, as well as various regimes in their steady dynamic growth. The model included a kinetic relationship which governed anisotropic twin boundary motion in 2 dimensions under an applied stress.
