The diffusion of H isotopes in these Laves-phase hydrides was measured, by means of pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance techniques, over a wide temperature range. It was found that the formation of ordered low-temperature phases in V2HfD4-xHx and V2ZrH3.8 led to a large reduction in the H diffusivity.
