The difficulties of applying the usual graphical method to the determination of the energy of a Schottky pair defect, using thermal expansion data, were considered. In order to minimize these difficulties, a new method of analysis was proposed which made use of the raw length and temperature data, instead of the thermal expansion coefficient and temperature. It was shown that this method was more objective than the currently used one.
